Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona is still working on the transfer of a left wing attacker.Zenit Saint-Petersburg forward and Russian international Andrei Arshavin (27) would be the first option of the Barcelona technical staff. Valencia left winger Silva would be the alternative in case the transfer of Arshavin fails.
Zenit is at this moment asking a 25 million euro° fee for Arshavin but Barcelona is ready to wait and see how things will develop in the coming weeks. With the Russian attacker having the absolute wish to join Barcelona (read more here), the club expects that the Russian champions will drop their asking price in the end.
Zenit spokesperson Alexei Petrov said last week to Spanish news agency EFE that the Russian club didn't yet receive a satisfying offer but that the interested clubs can make a bid for the player until the official end of the transfer window on the 31st of August.
