Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Barcelona is keeping an eye on Real Valladolid goalkeeper and Spanish youth international Sergio Asenjo (19), who made his first team debut at the age of 18 last season and is now the first choice.Asked about the rumours linking the player with several Spanish clubs, Valladolid president Carlos Suárez has said that his club has been trying to renew the contract of the player:
" With performances like the one against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, his price is going up. We're aware of the progress he has been making and that's why we offered him a new contract. We wanted to give him a better contract but at this moment that doesn't seem possible. We'll try again next summer, because now the club and the player are focusing on keeping the team in the primera división."
