Spanish businessman Juan Villalonga, who will be a candidate at the presidential elections of Real Madrid in 2010, has hinted in an interview with Spanish business television channel Intereconomía TV that he could go after Barcelona players:"I want the best players at Madrid. There's nothing I would like more than Calderón getting the best Barcelona players. My favourite is Messi, and the second one is Messi. The third one would also be Messi. It's always a great satifaction for me if we take away players from Barça, like Evaristo, Milla and Figo..."
pep's opinion:
this is a first shout in the built-up to what will be another big transfer summer. if calderon survives, both barcelona and real madrid will have presidential elections in 2010. with laporta not being re-electable and calderon not being very popular, both races at this point seem to be very open, so it's very likely candidates will try to link up with players to get elected. players can do great business that summer. if i was cesc's agent, i would advice my client not to move next summer but to wait for the summer of 2010... last time the presidential elections at both barcelona and madrid were held during the same summer, in 2000, barcelona player luis figo moved to madrid.
