Past midnight, after the cup win celebrations in the dressing room, Guardiola and his close friend Manel Estiarte, a former water polo player and Barcelona's head of external relations, went back out on the pitch and stayed talking about the game for about twenty minutes at the centre circle of an almost empty Mestalla stadium in Valencia.Guardiola wanted to smell the grass and enjoy the moment. Estiarte commented afterwards to a journalist: "He left off some steam, it was truly emotional. He re-lived the game and I actually wanted to put on a jersey and to start playing myself."
