Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés won't play anymore in the league this season to secure the Zamora trophy for best goalkeeper. The Catalan goalkeeper has now an average of 0,89 goals per game and cannot be catched up anymore by the second placed, Sevilla goalkeeper Andrés Palop, who can at the best drop his average from 1,03 to 0,97 if he doesn't concede any goals in the last two league games.
This would be the second Zamora trophy for Valdés, who won the award for the first time in the 2004-2005 season with an average of 0,71. It would be the sixteenth time a Barcelona goalkeeper wins the award and Valdés is the third goalkeeper to win the trophy at least twice in the Barcelona shirt: Antoni Ramallets won it five times (1952, 1956, 1957, 1959, 1960) and Salvador Sadurní three times (1969, 1974, 1975).
