Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona hopes that the negotiations on the transfer of Deportivo La Coruña left back defender Filipe Luis (23) can be picked up in the coming days after Deportivo rejected last Friday a first formal offer of 8 million euro° and referred to the buyout clause of 20 million euro° (read more here).

The club hopes that the Brazilian defender will put some pressure on his club and Barcelona might raise their offer to 10 million euro°. Deportivo on the other hand would be willing to drop the asking price to 12 million euro°. Catalan newspaper El Periódico claims that several sources say that Deportivo is ready to let Filipe leave for 12 million euro°.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona is preparing for a long round of negotiations. A Barcelona source is quoted as saying that Deportivo president Lendoiro "is an artist in this" but that the club is patient and convinced that they will reach an agreement in the end. Deportivo would at this moment be asking 14 million euro°, while Barcelona would have offered 9 million euro°. The paper says a deal may be closed for 10 million euro° plus incentives.

  2. Soha_TZ Said,

IMO if we can close the deal for max 12 mil, than we should do it as soon as posible. It would be easier to plan and concentrate on other transfers, also we would finaly solve LB problem

  4. Anonymous Said,

is it just me or can barca pass next season even without buying an LB? puyol can play there, abidal is a specialist, muniesa can cover. if we buy bruno alves, then puyol can be shifted to a starting LB role also, and plus we could become an aerial threat. just an opinion

  5. groga Said,

I also don't get the obsession with the left back. Nor with the centre-back actually... Anw hy didn't we just renew Sylvinho for one more year. It's not that he disappointed this season. Maybe even the opposite.

  6. Soha_TZ Said,

Anony that's an option, agree, but than we will need to buy great LW to make balance between our left and right side, so that our attacks come from the left not just from the right, where messi and alves are playing.

  7. Anurag Said,

well, soha_tz, that wouldnt be a big problem would it. puyol can flank pretty well and signing maybe ribery or robinho with the money we save will make the LW lethal as well. then, the barca squad would have :
-the best right wing in history (messi - alves)
-an awesome LW (puyol - robinho/ribery)
-crazy midfield (toure - xavi - iniesta)
    -awesome striker (villa)
-two great CB's, strong in the air (pique - bruno alves)

    sounds good :D

    @anurag
Sounds good to me to. Now all we need is money and players (ribery, villa, bruno alves) and we are done :))))))

aguero is much much better than villa

i wonder why barca fans cant see that !

    and the other thing :
Aguero said hw will never join RM so AtMadrid wont be able to consider bet from RM

  13. aydink-1 Said,

Filipe is very good and is the future Brazilian team left back,so I think that 12 mil. is not that much.

  14. LeónDragón Said,

    aguero isn't better than villa.
but he can become better, as he's very talented and very game-developed for his age

  15. LeónDragón Said,

robinho is a very talented, good individual player, but not very effective and a crap as a teamplayer.
hope we never go for this foolish, girlylike, peter-pan-syndromized-babyboytoy

  16. fc_barca Said,

why not try to get André Santos instead of Luis Filipe, he's a very good attacking technical left back and he played left back for Brazil in Confederations Cup

    Posted on 29 June 2009 at 10:06

  17. Jnice Said,

fc barca, are you serious? Andre Santos is not quality whatsoever. He was poor in all of Brazil's matches and is a weak link on that team. Filipe can make the lb spot his own if he does well for Barcelona.
