Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Barcelona has reopened the option of signing Atlético Madrid forward and Uruguay international Diego Forlán (30).With new Valencia president Vicente Soriano expected to announce today that Valencia forward David Villa will not leave this summer, Barcelona would now want to pay the 36 million euro° buyout clause of Forlán.
Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain called Forlán this weekend to inform him about the recent events. The Uruguayan striker would be delighted to join Barcelona but wants the clubs to reach an agreement first. Forlán also doesn't want to publicly express his wish to join Barcelona, like he did three years when Barcelona in the end signed Gudjohnsen.

The_Cules Said,
For the love of god i hope that it wont come to the board trying to sign forlan's signature.
We need Villa now.

Engineer Said,
Let the surge of angry comments begin.

fcbee Said,
Why don't we just give Eto'o a proper new contract and give more chances to Bojan. Henry can also act as back-up for the CF while we have a clear lack of wingers. I don't understand the CF obsession.

Mahi Said,
Forlan is not worth for 36 mil. now. then why can't try Llorente?
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:34
Anonymous Said,
Athletic is demanding 30 million for Llorente.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:38
The_Cules Said,
Well i agree with fcbee but im just eager to find out on who we are going 2 promote this upcoming season as we need a squad with alot of depth for the long campaign.
Im grateful to Eto because he has achieved and given alot to this club but with the recent turmoil between eto and laporta i think that eto should just leave for m.city.
villa would be a exquisite signing as we need new players that will be motivated for next season to win silverware.
Off course that's if we even sign Villa.

heres a good laugh for you guys http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2518194/To-buy-or-not-Dubai.html
and on topic, definitely don't go for forlan, hes 30 years old and probably only has one more year left in him at his peak. if eto'o is sold we need someone good to replace him like villa. benzema would of been good at 30 mill but of course madrid are hogging all the transfers.

Anonymous Said,
Yeah signing Guddy over Forlan.. Great call on that one, the day Eidur is twice pichichi ill eat my foot.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:43
woo sah Said,
we already have our striker for the future in keirrison.
and it seems that if not villa then forlan will HAVE to do...there's no other alternative.
like i said...YES i want eto'o to stay but seeing how things have went we CAN'T count on him next season and its in the BEST interest for everyone to sell him asap.
but honestly if it were up to me...i would just switch henry to CF and bojan to LW. then keirrision can cameo here and there. for LW backup we'd use pedro and gai. but thats just me....
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:43
groga Said,
Last season everyone said the same about Eto'o after Guardiola explicitly said he wasn't the kind of striker he was looking for. But he had his best season ever (both personally and with the team).
If he stays, he'll be motivated like hell to prove everyone inside and oputside the club wrong for the second time.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:44
blaugrana1 Said,
i have a feeling laporta will do the mistake calderon did last summer, when he was running after ronaldo and ended up not singing any1.
Laporta is running after villa and it is taking too long ! If valencia dont wana sell drop it ! keep eto and keirrison, pay the 14mill for luis filipe (definatley worth it),and try to get a left winger !
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:46
The_Cules Said,
Why doesnt the board fixate on signing Aguero instead of forlan.Forlan is ageing why by a player thats 30 years old already when we could sign el kun whose alot younger and would make a awesome pairing with messi.
aguero+messi=K1LLER.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:52
trez Said,
Aguero has abuyout clause of 55 million and Atletico wants to keep together for the CL, so we shouldn't even think about that, I'm afraid...
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:53
Anonymous Said,
14 million for Filipe is a waste, there's a reason no other team is even willing to make an 8 million bid.
Eto'o won't prove anything. Of course he can do well again, he's a great striker. But that's not why the club wants him out. We don't want him to have a great year next year and then stick the middle finger to us and leave us high and dry with nothing, when he leaves he'll talk a lot of crap about the club too. He can't get over the fact that we wanted him out last year, he's taking it very personally.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:55
trez Said,
How else should one take it if they say "tyou're not the guy I'm looking for" while you know (and prove afterwards) that the statement wasn't right?
Anyway, I was talking about a renewal of course.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 01:57
Anonymous Said,
wouldn't it be easier for us if they would admit, that they will not buy anyone?
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 02:02
The_Cules Said,
Well lets all hope keirrison will be kick ass cant wait to see how well he does during preseason.
It would be out of this world if he becomes one of the best players in the world and a main contender for the balon d'or
now im day dreaming.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 02:02
yuti Said,
lol, anony! yeah, just admit it now so we can change our mindset and stop expecting at least three transfers...
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 02:03
Anonymous Said,
The club's waiting for Eto'o's decision on the renewal offer :)
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 02:09
Marws Said,
This is totaly bullshit. Eto'o is better and younger than Forlan, and now we are willing to sell Eto'o for 25 m and buy Forlan for 36? Thats a loss of 11 m euro for the CF position.

Soon you will hear from fans here that we are Barcelona and have a fantastic transfer policy by buying older players for huge money instead of buying younger because that will harm the youth players.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 02:54
Manolo Said,
If we sign this guy for 36 m€ Laporta and Txiki must living on drugs or some.
No to Llorente,no to Forlan, if we going to buy a starting XI striker we need a class striker.
Forlan is, but he's so old and will just be going down.
AND! think if he needs to adapt in one year lol.
PEP on quest. for u, how much would Gael Clishy cost us?
He's a talented young LB right?
A good option if Felipe doesn't goes through
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 02:54
groga Said,
Clichy at least 15 millions, I think. At least. And h's a astarter so you cannot have him ànd Abidal.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 02:58
The_Cules Said,
txiki and laporta WTF are they doing? cmon i know the seasons over but now is the business end of things now lay off the wacky tobacky txiki and laporta and find someone other than forlan.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 03:08
Anonymous Said,
c'mon...Forlan is not that bad...
the only problem is how much price will be.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 03:24
woo sah Said,
umm...people....
there IS no one else for us to get. there just isn't based upon the fact that the board is NOT willing to spend overly excessive amounts and the fact that eto'o WILL NOT extend and will pretty much screw us over unless we sell him.
aguero is out of the question based solely on the fact that we bought keirrison. now if we DIDN'T buy keirrison...kun would be a valid option but now i don't think that's such a good idea any more.
we can only hope that keirrison turns out to be the next R9.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 03:30
barca4life Said,
We cant keep keirrison because we already have 3 non-eu players registered in hleb yaya and caceres. Even if caceres leaves henrique is also a non-eu player.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 03:37
Anonymous Said,
Funny that we waste two non-EU spots on mediocre players like Caceres and Hleb who Guardiola don't trust at all.
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 05:15
fcbee Said,
I don't think Hleb has a non-EU spot, since there's some treaty with Belarus. Not sure (but almost).
Posted on 6 July 2009 at 05:18
Anonymous Said,
Guys let me put another name on the table....
Why in the world do we not try to sign Luis Fabiano instead of thirty year old Forlan.
He is young, eager to win titles and has amazing striker moves.
If Sami is to go then i think that he would be a great replacement.
Add to that a wing back, and Fabrecas (to give an extra option to use iniesta on the left wing) and we are just fine for the season to come..

I think Hleb qualifies as EU because of his time at Arsenal. Got a British passport or something I think?
