Speaking to Argentinian sports channel TyC Sports, Barcelona player Lionel Mesi has said that he could miss Barcelon's first league game because of a game with his national team:"On 28 August, I will play the European Super Cup, there's no doubt about that. The problem is the next game. That's why I've already talked with Pep and Diego Maradona, to see if I can travel to Argenina immediately after the game against Shakhtar.
Luckily, Pep is a very intelligent person and we have a great relationship. We still need to sit down and talk to see what is the best for all parties."

Carrer de Corsega Said,
I read the title and I thought for a second that that cramp is serious now. Scared me...
Let's hope he won't get injured there.

barca4life Said,
We can do without messi for 1 league game. Better to let him go and not risk an injury by overworking.

Hilal Said,
ITs fine, I think we can handle Sporting Gijon without Messi...let him go play with Argentina if thats what he wants

Moltisanti Said,
I say let him go but in return we should ask for a friendly mid-season when he won't be called up.

but he will be fine... he got a physio from barca everytime he travels with national team...
for some reason i have a feeling Barca are gonna surprise us with a big signing we never expected... not talking about Cesc...
forgive me for dreaming big but i think maybe
Ribery, or Robben (very unlikely) or Sneider...
i wanna be surprised...

Iason Said,
Last season I would have been sceptical about this because Pedro never really convinced me back then but after his great preseason, (not only statistic wise but all on overall preformance) I think he deserves his chance at being the number one replacement for Messi ahead of players like Bojan, Iniesta and Zlatan as Pedro is also the only other true RW. I am confident with Pedro starting games against teams like Gijon and I would like to see him play against all the weaker teams games so there is less chance of a Messi injury or tiredness.

Helge Said,
Wow, I bet you scared a lot of visitors with that headline, Pep :)
I'm delighted that he's not injured until then.
So, first league match is on Monday, right? And the qualifier for Argentina is on Saturday, I think that's still enough time, isn't it? Would be a different story if the qualifier was on Wednesday.
