Decision on Silva next week

07:15 Reporter: Editor 0 Responses
During a two-hour meeting yesterday evening between on the one hand Jullio Llorente and Amadeo Rangel, the agents of Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22), and on the other hand Valencia president Vicente Soriano, Valencia sports vice president Fernado Gómez and Valencia chief executive Javier Gómez, the parties have not found an agreement on a contract renewal.

Valencia sports vice president Fernado Gómez said to journalists that the negotiations are going in the right way: "We have talked about numbers, about wishes, but it's an issue that only concerns the player and the club so we won't go into details. The player wants to stay in Valencia and we want him to stay. Since we're talking about numbers, that means we're trying to close the gap between the parties' positions. We're already closer than before the meeting because we wish that the player is happy and stays here."

Julio Llorente said to the press while leaving the meeting that there will be a new meeting next week: "We're not close, we're not far, we're in the middle. The talks are ongoing, I can't say much more. We didn't talk about offers from other clubs during the meeting, only about a renewal. We have now taken a break to look at the situation with a clear head. I think there will be a solution next week."

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that there's still a serious difference between offer and demand. Silva wants to give priority to the club that gave him the chance to shine but if he doesn't get a convincing rise in his salary, he'll start looking at the other options on the table.

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Silva is now only number seven or eight in the ranking of best paid Valencia players and wants to become one the top earners. Valencia would have offered him a pay rise of 200 000 euro a year plus another 300 000 euro incentives, something that was not at all satisfying for his agents, certainly looking at what the player has been offered by other clubs.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that the difference between both parties is so big that it seems not likely that Silva will stay with Valencia. Barcelona has been informed about the talks and would already have scheduled a meeting with Valencia officials for next Wednesday, with Barcelona wanting to close a deal by mid-August.

If Valencia doesn't find new financial means in the coming days, the club probably won't be able to satisfy the demands of Silva, which would lead to Barcelona launching a 25 (22+3) million euro° bid next week (read more here).

Silva prefers to stay

Asked about the situation of Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22), Silva's agent Julio Llorente has said to journalists yesterday that the player wants to stay but suggested that Silva would like to see his contract renewed:

"He wants to stay with Valencia. We'll see what will happen but his first option is to stay here. If there would appear other options, we will look at them but at his moment he's very comfortable at this club.

If in the next days something would come up that could change this plan, we'll analyze it and make a decision. David wants to stay and he has a contract. A lot of clubs have shown interest for him, so he wants Valencia to take that into account and show him what he's worth to them, which is normal.

It's logical that other clubs are looking at him since he has played two very good seasons, he played very well at the European championship, which of course leads to offers. But we haven't really looked at them because Valencia has his transfer rights and if they don't say anything to us, he's a Valencia player for the next five years."

Valencia regional radio station LP Punto Radio claims that Valencia has received formal offers from Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and AS Roma but that the club has rejected to start talks and made clear that they don't want to sell the left winger.

Valencia president Vicente Soriano confirmed the wish of the club to journalists: "We're gonna tell his agents that we want Silva to stay with us. I don't think there will be any problems but we're going to talk. Let's see what the result will be." Today a new meeting between the club and the player's agents was scheduled.

Asked about the rumours linking Silva with a move to Barcelona (read more here), Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain has admitted to journalists today that Silva could be an option: "It's a good and interesting player, but not only for us, but also for foreign teams. There are no negotiations ongoing cause Valencia is still thinking about its position and no talks have been started."

Silva is planning to stay with Valencia

Asked about the rumours linking Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22) with an exit (read more here), the player's agent Julio Llorente has said to Valencia regional sports paper Super Deporte that Silva doesn't plan to leave this summer:

"Silva has a contract with Valencia and he would like to stay. Despite the unrest at the the top of the club, Silva is still feeling comfortable in Valencia. If any club is interested in Silva, they have to contact Valencia and we prefer that they do this as soon as possible so that everything will be clear for the player."

Valencia will listen to offers for Silva

Asked about the rumours linking Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22) with an exit, new Valencia sports vice president Fernando Gómez has said in an interview with Valencia regional newspaper Las Provincias that the club is ready to listen to offers:

"If you only look to the football side of the story, who wouldn't hold on to Silva or Villa... I will do everything that is possible to keep them with us and the president has the same intention. They are extraordinary players and we will treat them well, like we do with everyone.

But we'll have to wait and see what will happen in the end. At this moment, I don't have any concrete offer on the table but I will look at every offer that will come in for whatever player of the squad."

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that the new Valencia board wants to take advantage of the good performances of Silva and Villa during last month's European championships and intends to sell both players as a solution for the financial problems of the club.

While Julio Llorente and Amadeo Rengel, the agents of Silva, were ready to start talking about a contract renewal, the new situation at the club could lead them to prefer an exit. Barcelona would be considering a 20 million euro° bid for the Spanish winger.

Valencia regional sports paper Super Deporte claims that Llorente and Rengel will travel to Valencia this week to know first hand about the plans of the club, with Silva mainly wanting to stay if the club has an ambitious project and if he gets a contract renewal.

Silva agent admits Barcelona contact

Asked about the rumours linking Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22) with Barcelona (read more here), Julio Llorente - who represents the player together with Amadeo Rangel - has admitted the interest to journalists after meeting Valencia sports director Azkargorta this afternoon:

"I can confirm that Barcelona is amongst the clubs that have contacted us to know more about the situation of the player. But they are certainly not the only ones.

Of course every player wants to improve his situation but Valencia is also a big club with whom Silva has a contract and he'll defend their colours as long as the club wishes. He is happy here and he showed that, so there shouldn't be too much speculation on his future."

Valencia sports director Xabier Azkagorta said that the club plans to hold talks about Silva's future with his agents: "Juan Villalonga has said it and I repeat it. The new project will essentially be based upon David Villa and David Silva."

Meeting with Silva cancelled

Valencia regional radio station LP Punto Radio claims that a new meeting between Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and the agents of Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22), Amadeo Rangel and Julio Llorente, that was scheduled for later this week, has been cancelled (read more here).

The arrival of Juan Villonga as new Valencia CEO (read more here) has made the agents decide that they first want to talk with with the new Valencia official before holding further negotiations with other clubs.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Villalonga wants to offer Silva a tempting renewal, which would make the investment for Barcelona to sign the winger even bigger: not only should they pay Valencia a very high fee, they should also offer the player more than he can receive in Valencia.

Meeting with Silva this week

03:05 Reporter: Editor 0 Responses
Valencia regional sports paper Super Deporte claims that, after the board survived the vote of no confidence, Barcelona will now soon pick up the talks on the transfer of Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22).

The Spaniard, who is currently on holiday, has told his agent Amadeo Rengel that he doesn't want to hear anything about rumours and only wants to be informed of formal offers that have been made.

Silva is not planning to play things hard and will only look at offers coming in if Valencia decides to sell him. With the buyout clause being 90 million euro°, it is expected that Valencia will not be willing to negotiate for a transfer price lower than 35 million euro°.

Valencia regional radio station LP Punto Radio claims that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain will meet later this week with Amadeo Rangel and Julio Llorente, the agents of Silva.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Silva is the main alternative in case the transfer of Zenit attacker Arshavin fails. But with the transfer price of the Spanish winger having seriously risen after his good performances at the European championship last month, Barcelona could also be looking at other options on the list.
